If tomorrows headlines were to read, “Thousands die in latest terror attack in the the United States”, who would we blame? Well the terrorist ofcourse. But the direct responsibility would fall on the Department of Homeland Security. The agency would likely collapse under the intense scrutiny. Thankfully we havent had a headline of even one terror related death in America since the agency was created by President Bush three years ago.
Now I ask, is this a fluke? Has Bin Laden and his network given up on the Idea of directly attacking U.S. soil? Not likely. In fact what is likely is that several attacks have already been twarted by the DHS. Due to national security, many of the details of our security will never see the light of day. But they are there and so far working. I have no doubt that in the future we will be struck again. The advantage is always with the attacker. The attacker chooses the time and place from which to strike. There are many things that can be done to protect the nation from attack, but one cannot be safe everywhere. Its just not practicle for a country as open or as large as the United States. This makes it even more remarkable that we have been three years with no terror attacks. When we are hit again, and let there be no doubt we will be, remember that it has taken three years or more to find and exploit a weakness in our Homeland Security.
In the mean time. The U.S. Military has been ruthlessly hunting down and killing the terrorist and their sponsors. This has also played a large part in our safety as the enemy has had to focus more on surviving than striking back. God willing, we will be able to defeat the terrorist before they are able to mount an effective counter attack. But until that happens, our fate is in the hands of the Men and Women of the DHS.
As Americans, we owe a great deal of gratetude and thanks to the DHS. Thank You.

Russian President Vladimir Putin campaigned for the pro-Kremlin Mr. Yanukovych, which opinionjournal says fits Mr. Putin’s increasingly obvious desire to reconstitute an autocratic Greater Russia that would block Ukraine from moving towards Western methods. The US is threatening Ukraine if they do not do a re-vote and if the vote holds, the US will not do business with Ukraine. But this also puts the US in a dilemma. Yushchenko says if he is elected, he will pull 1,600 troops out of the Iraqi war. Overall, Vladimir Putin supporting Ukraine’s presidential voting results will hinder the US and Russia relationship.

Two-thirds of Swiss voters said yes on a government proposed stem cell research, although religious and left-wingers opposed. Switzerland, which is one of the world leaders in medical and pharmaceutical research, says they believe stem cells may hold the key to treatments for illnesses including Parkinson’s and diabetes.
The Swiss restricts embryonic stem cell research to embryos less than seven days old and which are left over from fertilization treatment that are due for destruction. The Swiss is using my same argument that I believe the US should do. Use embryonic stem cells that are due for destruction anyway.
The Swiss next step: cloning…
Also, breaking news on a paralyzed woman now walking due to stem cell therapy. Hwang Mi-Soon, 37, has been confined in bed for the past 20 years since damaging her back. Last week, she walked again with the help of a walking frame at a press conference in South Korea.
The US should follow the Swiss steps to give us the edge on groundbreaking science and technology, especially the race on stem cell research and possibly cloning.

There will be another DVD format coming soon. This new format will be High Definition (HD), which is currently being battled as a standard by Toshiba Corp (high-definition DVD format), and Sony (Blu-ray disc). Yes, it is a separate format than the current DVD’s and yes you will have to purchase a new DVD player to support this new HD format. But the good thing is, the new DVD players will be backward compatible to play your existing DVDs. The bad thing is, different movie productions will support the two different formats. Ultimately, one of the formats will disappear. Hopefully, in late 2005 when the two formats are expected to come out, some tech company will give heads up on which format they believe will survive the HD DVD battle. The only thing I don’t know is if the new HD DVD format will play on the existing DVD players.

The weather predictions for Asia in 2050 is not pretty. Here are a couple of highlighted excerpts:
According to predictions, glaciers will melt faster, some Pacific and Indian Ocean islands will have to evacuate or build sea defenses, storms will become more intense and insect and water-borne diseases will move into new areas as the world warms.
All this comes on top of rising populations and spiraling demand for food, water and other resources. Experts say environmental degradation such as deforestation and pollution will likely magnify the impacts of climate change.
In what could be a foretaste of the future, Japan was hit by a record 10 typhoons and tropical storms this year, while two-thirds of Bangladesh, parts of Nepal and large areas of northeastern India were flooded, affecting 50 million people, destroying livelihoods and making tens of thousands ill.
The year before, a winter cold snap and a summer heat wave killed more than 2,000 people in India.

Fears of mass migration have already prompted the Pentagon (news - web sites) and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, among others, to study the risk from climate-induced mass migration.
The Pentagon in its 2003 report looked at what might happen if the climate changed abruptly. The result was near anarchy.
“As global and local carrying capacities are reduced, tensions could mount around the world,” it said. This could lead some wealthier nations becoming virtual fortresses to preserve their resources.

Economic Efficiency Score, developed as a Ph.D. dissertation by University of Delaware student Martin Kennedy, is used to measure how economically efficient congressmen are by measuring a score number between 0 and 100, 100 being the most economically efficient. The efficiency was done by the number of votes on economic legislation that would yield nationwide benefits greater than costs and those that would have nationwide costs greater than benefits.
Results:
The economic efficiency scores don’t paint a pretty picture about our elected representatives. The highest score held by a Democratic House member (48) was jointly held by Barney Frank of Massachusetts, Earl Blumenauer of Oregon, Ron Kind of Wisconsin, and Ralph Hall and Charlie Stenholm of Texas, who all voted for efficiency-enhancing legislation 48 percent of the time. The highest score for a Republican House member (87) was jointly held by John Shadegg of Arizona, John Sununu of New Hampshire, and Tom Petri and James Sensenbrenner, both of Wisconsin. In the Senate, the highest score (64) held by a Democrat was held by Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, and for a Republican, it was Richard Lugar of Indiana (91). The average Econ-E Score was 20 for Democratic House members and was 54 for Republicans. The average for Senate Democrats was 40, and for Senate Republicans, it was 69.
Walter E. Williams goes to say:
When you vote for a member of the House of Representatives or the Senate, what should be your selection criteria? I’m all too afraid that most Americans, were they to be honest, would answer that they’d vote for the person who has pushed or will push for legislation that benefits them, their community, their city or their state. They couldn’t care less about or completely disregard the harm that the legislation does to other Americans in other communities, cities or states.

” In the tape posted Wednesday on an Islamist Web site, Jordanian terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi condemned the “silence” of Muslim religious figures, saying they have “let us down in the darkest circumstances.”
Folks, we are winning the war! The key ingredient of any successful insurgency is popular support of the people. The Al-Qaeda cells in Iraq DO NOT HAVE popular support. Remember that when liberals, or anybady else, try to cast doom and gloom over the situation in Iraq. Like the President said, “its hard work”, but we are winning.

Walter E. Williams on Attacking Condi
Dr. Condoleezza Rice, President Bush’s national security adviser and now his secretary of state nominee, has been the subject of nasty, demeaning and disrespectful cartoons and commentary. Some of the worst has come from people like Julian Bond, chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, who said on TV’s “America’s Black Forum” that he agreed with “The Boondocks” cartoonist Aaron McGruder’s characterization of Dr. Rice as “a murderer.” A lead article in Black Commentator said, “Condoleezza Rice is the purest expression of the race traitor. No polite description is possible.” Those kinds of attacks by blacks have emboldened guilt-ridden white liberals to join in as seen by the recent cartoons of Pat Oliphant and Garry Trudeau (”Doonesbury”).
First, let’s look at a few of Dr. Rice’s credentials. She holds a doctorate from the University of Denver. While senior fellow at the prestigious Hoover Institution, she taught courses in Stanford University’s political science department. Later, she served as the university’s provost. Dr. Rice is a recognized expert in Soviet and Eastern European countries, and she’s fluent in Russian. She landed her job as national security adviser not because President Bush was trying to pay off a black constituency and not because Bush had an affirmative-action policy; her qualifications got her the job.
Black people have become Democrats first and whatever else afterward. The Democratic leadership, along with its leftist allies in Hollywood, on college campuses, in labor unions, in the education establishment and in the media, detests President Bush. Too many black people are dependent on the Democrats for handouts and racial preferences. Black politicians depend on the Bush haters for financial resources enabling them to gain office. Black civil rights organizations are beholden to liberal foundations. The bottom line of all of this is that he who pays the piper calls the tune and black people dance along.
The attacks on Dr. Rice and Gen. Powell are the results of one-think where all blacks are to think alike. Any who stray are race traitors. A monopoly on ideas serves no one well and explains why solutions to problems for a large segment of the black community will remain elusive.
I agree with Walter E. Williams 100 percent! Especially with “Any who stray are race traitors.” When many African Americans hear that I am a black republican, they mouth drop and they wonder why. They always come with the quote, “republicans are for the rich and the democrats are for the poor.” Yada Yada Yada!!! Well, if you knew a little more about politics, then they would know why I am a black republican.

It is sad to see that Condoleezza Rice has to face racist remarks as she moves up to Secretary of State. And besides all of racism, many people feel that she is under qualified for being Secretary of State. Well here are my reasons why she is qualified:
-
Condoleezza Rice has her masters in political science and has a PhD in International Studies.
-
She taught at Stanford University as a political science professor. You don’t just fill out a job application for this position. Plus she won two of the highest teaching honors. This shows she has the mental capacity to handle the job.
-
She has been a member of the Center for International Security and Arms Control, a Senior Fellow of the Institute for International Studies, and a Fellow (by courtesy) of the Hoover Institution.
-
She also has written numerous articles on Soviet and East European foreign and defense policy, plus she is a Russian expert and speaks Russian and other languages fluently.
-
She served in the Bush Administration as Director, and then Senior Director, of Soviet and East European Affairs in the National Security Council, and a Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs.

There has been much talk going on about the 9/11 attacks on how the pentagon was hit. It seems like some people’s theory is that the pentagon was not hit by an airplane, but by some type of missile. gixxxerking and I decided to take a cursory look at this topic. This is what we came up with:
First of all, I would like to say that we concluded that the pentagon was hit by an airplane and not by some type of missile. Here are the reasons.
First, let’s compare the two different types of explosions from a plane vs. a missile. An airplane explosion has a lot more fire from the fuel and the fuel extracts some type of dark black smoke. A missile explosion like a tomahawk has a lot less fire and a lot more explosion or burst (greater force). Look and compare at Figure 1 and Figure 2. Figure 1 is the actual object exploding, after hitting the pentagon. As you can see, this type of explosion has a lot of fire and contains a dark black smoke. Figure 2 is the airplane hitting the World Trade Center (WTC). If you compare Figure 1 and Figure 2, you can clearly see that the two explosions are very similar, if not, the same. There is no controversy about two airplanes hitting the WTC. Therefore, comparing the WTC explosion and the pentagon explosion is valid.

Figure 1

Figure 2
Secondly, let’s look at the type of explosion of a missile like the Tomahawk missile. If you click here, at the end of the video clip, you can see that a Tomahawk missile has a lot less fire and a lot more burst. This large burst exerts a very large force upon its object, creating greater damage than that of an airplane explosion. Now, lets take a look at Figure 3. Figure 3 shows the results after the explosion. Take a look at the red circle. Notice how the building collapsed just like the WTC. If the pentagon was hit by some type of missile with the missile’s tremendous amount of energy and force, then you not have a collapse in the pentagon explosion. That collapse portion of the pentagon would be disintegrated and destroyed.

Figure 3
Finally, if you take a look at the red circle of Figure 4, you see a rectangular section of the building destroyed, which a missile cannot do, but the wing of a plane can.

Figure 4
I think all this hype about a missile hitting the pentagon is just another anti-Bush/anti-Cheney scheme.

Are you tired of liberal DIMocrats and the Un-United Nations calling the President a war monger? read the following quote from the Secretary of State Colin Powell:
“But if we can avoid the use of military force with diplomacy, through a political action, that is what we should try to do, and that is what President Bush tried to do,” Powell said.
