“While America is a nation of immigrants, we are also a nation of laws, and rewarding those who break our laws not only dishonors the hard work of those who came here legally but does nothing to fix our current situation.”

The immigration issue goes deeper than just laws not being upheld. There are many factors that contribute to the negative media attention and sentiments of some concern americans. If one closely examines the historical nature of cultural dominance that was created by the forefathers. One will really begin to understand the fear of another culture taking over. Social, politcal scientist, Harvard PHD, Samuel P. Huntington in his book, WHO ARE WE, clearly indicates that “Anglo-Saxon Protestant culture is under immediate threat.” He indicates that if immigrants cannot “assimilate to Anglo-Saxon Protestant culture then they should not be allowed to live in this country.” For the first time in american history the Latino Americans are not adopting the dominate ruling culture, Anglo-Saxon Protestant culture. All previous generations of immigrants weather by force or to be accepted by the masses, have always assimilated to the dominate Anglo-Saxon culture. Our nations laws, the greater culture at large and classical arts are all based on this concepts of Anglo-Saxon Protestant culture, which Samuel Huntington vividly illustrates in his book. This is more about a cultural war. If every immigrant followed the rules and became legal and paid taxes, the true nature of the grievances would come out clearly. The dominate culture does not want to see america become like Canada, French Canadians and English Canadians. Dominance is a means of POWER and CONTROL. If they loose this cultural war, they loose more than just non-tax paying immigrants or some other laws that they don’t abide by. They loose the essence of the founding of this country. Maybe it’s time for all americans to have another choice of cultural dominance.

You hit the nail on the head Eddie. Cultural dominance is at the core of the current immigration issue whether people admit to it or not. The terrorism issue is the catalyst and justification for implementing immigration control measures. Not to say that guarding our borders has no merit in regards to controlling any and all that might come across. But this nation’s history speaks too loudly and recently in regards to racially-motivated agendas - the Chinese Exclusion Act was passed by Congress in 1882 to keep out the Chinese. Long ago you say? Well, the act stayed in the law books for 61 years. It was finally appealed in 1943, but not because it was inhuman, rather it was for political reasons since we became allies with China during WWII. 1943 is too close to my generation, were it not for WWII and the our alliance to China, I would expect the act would’ve lasted into the 1960s.
There’s a lot I like about my American culture, but there’s a lot of abuse I receive as a minority. I’m as Amercian as one can get (28 year military veteran, volunteer for community and government service, love baseball, apple pie, etc. At the end of the day, I’m just looked and treated like a second class citizen. I look forward to the day when there is no majority

Who are americans?
Obviously the roman mentality died with the fall of the roman empire. America is not a French old guard! The power controlling cultural mindset is nothing more than flabby simple mentality. The colonialist mindset promotes Colonial Narcissism. America is more of a immigrant society, not just one culture. Different cultures and languages can coexist, if we exterminate the French colonial mentality. Upon the majority of the Latino population becoming legal, what is the next power controlling cultural complaint? Cultural dominance is not the essence of the America we live in today.
Simplistic Approach:
1. Remove the colonialist mindset from the educational institution and mass media.
2. Allow other cultures to flourish.
3. Further the development of laws to allow immigrants to be legalized (Process has already begun)
4. Implement a national celebration of our diverse cultural heritage (National Holiday)
5. Further develop curriclums on all levels of the educational spectrum to foster other cultures (Heavy concentration in the Public School System)

The dangerous beliefs of ethnocentrism, the belief that ones own group or ethnic group is the center of everything, against which all other groups are judged is growing pervasively. It’s fueling nationalism and hatered in this country. This authoritative controlling belief is just another example of the cultural war that is engulfing Anglo Saxon Protestants. Social scientist William Graham Sumner, professor at Yale University has stated vividly that ethnocentrism, “often entails the belief that one’s own race or ethnic group is the most important and/or that some or all aspects of its culture are superior to those of other groups. Within this ideology, individuals will judge other groups in relation to their own particular ethnic group or culture, especially with concern to language, behaviour, customs, and religion”. Disguised rhetoric blossoms through the media with talk of immigrants. The true nature is slowly emerging.
